COUNTERTRANSFERENCE This seminar will meet 6 times for 90 minutes in spring 2026. The first and last meetings will be in person and there will be time to socialize after both. The 4 seminars in between will occur on Zoom. We will divide the time between mini-lectures and discussion of readings. Participants will be invited to discuss clinical experiences. Spots are limited to ensure time for full engagement of everyone. Registration fee is $270. For further information contact: Michelle Kwintner mkwintner@gmail.com 9 CEs offered and approved by NY State Therapists have many feelings during sessions. Are they an impediment to our work, are they useful in developing our empathy and intuition, or something else? What about stray images, songs, or bodily feelings we may notice during sessions? Can we use those to deepen our work and expand channels of communication? Each week in this seminar we will discuss a reading or two about countertransference. Participants will be invited to share clinical material. The goal will not be to provide group supervision. Rather, we will use the clinical material to notice our reactions to it, to deepen our listening and to tune our therapeutic instruments. Michelle Kwintner PhD, LCSW, member of APsA and IPA, is on the faculty at International Psychotherapy Institute, International Institute for Psychoanalytic Training, and Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas.
